A COVENANT BETWEEN CTEC
(CHURCHES TOGETHER IN EARLSDON AND CHAPELFIELDS)
We,
the congregation and members of
Hearsall Baptist Church,
Earlsdon Methodist Church,
The Anglican Church of St Barbara, Earlsdon,
The Anglican Church of St Mary Magdalen, Chapelfields, and
The Roman Catholic Church of the Precious Blood and All Souls, Chapelfields
unite in proclaiming our faith in the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We acknowledge that Jesus Christ is calling us to love one another
and to serve God's Kingdom in the world as one Church.
We rejoice that for more than four decades our understanding and
co-operation have grown,
and we undertake, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit,
to work and worship together in as many ways as is practically possible,
while yet respecting the official discipline of each church.
We therefore
COVENANT
to work together for the realisation of
the unity of Christ's people in this area of Coventry.
We commit ourselves, for the glory of God and his Church, to
take part in united worship, prayer and training;
co-operate in Christian mission and witness in our area;
share concern for wider social and moral issues,resulting in
concerted action and service to the community;
seek how we might better use together our individual resources;
and encourage the celebration of life in all its fullness.
We recognise that the deepening significance of the Covenant will depend
on the continuing and ever-widening commitment of both clergy and laity.
It also involves the goodwill and support of local and regional Church authorities,
who affirm that future appointments will be made in the spirit of this Covenant.
We agree that this Covenant shall be reviewed after five years.
In entering into this Covenant we commend each other to
the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
