CTEC -
Churches Together in Earlsdon & Chapelfields
CTEC has been established for many years, as a result of the covenanting of the following churches:
The covenant is reviewed and renewed about every five years, and the last renewal took place at St Mary Magdalen on Sunday 14th October 2007, where the preacher was Canon David Robinson. The signing was done by all members of the churches present at the service, and involved the signing of five copies - one to be kept by each church. Click here to see the wording of the Covenant.
The practical aspects resulting from the Covenant are formulated in the following Strategy, given at the service:
We undertake to continue and develop our joint acts of worship. Our present pattern includes Advent (the picture shows CTEC singers rehearsing for an advent service), Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, Good Friday, Pentecost, Canley Ford and One World Week and we have recently added a monthly Prayer Breakfast.
We intend to revive joint study-groups. Additionally, we hope to expand our public witness during Pentecost and at Canley Ford.
Our social programme and awareness of the needs of the wider world includes meeting together for Fellowship during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity and for Lent Lunches, which also enables us to raise money for the needs of the wider world.
Each Church will send members to the Churches Together committee meetings, and in addition the Ministers undertake to meet regularly.
We need to develop ways of serving the community.
We are pleased to acknowledge the support of our denominational bodies and are grateful to the Secretaries of the Churches Together in Coventry and Warwickshire, and look for their continued support.
[Note: Earlsdon also has close links with the Woodside Methodist Church, with whom we normally share the same minister. In addition we join in regular circuit services at the Methodist Central Hall].
