The group was set up over ten years ago to protect the meadows surrounding Canley Ford. They have planted 3500 mature trees, manage the meadows as traditional hay meadows and have created wildlife pond.
They run educational activities from schools etc., and speak to outside groups. The Meadow was made made Coventry’s only Millennium Green in 2000 and given a 999 years lease by City Council.
For several years now Churches Together in Earlsdon and Chapelfields (CTEC) have held a service in the meadow during September. Seating - if you don't bring your own - is on hay bales.
The meadow can be accessed by foot dirctly from the A45, or from the Lane which runs from the Kenilworth Road opposite Coat of Arms Bridge Road. There is limited parking at the end, near the old Milk Bar, but traffic is not allowed down through the ford nowadays.
