As I do not have my own web site, I offer the following summary CV:

I was born in Reading during the Battle of Britain, and first attended George Palmer Infant and Junior School, before passing the eleven-plus to attend Reading School in 1951.

In 1958 I went to Southampton University to study Physics. After graduating in 1961 I continued there and gained a post-graduate Diploma in Electronics.

In 1962 I joined GEC Telecommunications in Coventry, initially living at Coombe Abbey as a graduate trainee. I continued with the company in its various guises of GEC Plessey Telecommunications and GPT Ltd, until it became Marconi Telecommunications and ran into financial trouble in 2001. At this stage I opted for voluntary redundancy and early retirement!

My Methodist involvement began at Whitely Hall in Reading; I was a member of Meth Soc at Southampton, attending the church at Swaythling; and in 1965 I joined Earlsdon Methodist.

While at Reading School I was a member of their Scout Troop, gaining the Queen's Scout badge in 1957.

In 1968 I married Wendy, and we have two children - Michelle and Martin.

My other interests (apart from running the website and trying to improve my javascript) are:

Athletics - I am a qualified assistant coach (middle-distance) and a qualified timekeeper
Family History (I'm experimenting with XML as a presentation device for this)
We enjoy holidays (e.g. Macchu Pichu 2003, Russia 2004, Sri Lanka 2005)
