Zambuko RaJehova
What is it, and what does it mean?
It is our main Church Charity for the next five years. The words are Shona for "Bridging the Gap with Christ"
Why are we involved?
Our Minister, the Rev Siperire Mugadzaweta, comes from Zimbabwe. It was while on a visit there that she saw the dreadful conditions which have come about through the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
Very young children, whose parents have died of the disease, are being looked after by the grandparents, and often the elder - still under ten years old - is having to look after and clean up the babies in the family.
As a result, this church is involved in the setting up and supporting a Trust which will provide aid to these people, in the form of food and education to young people.
Zambuko RaJehova Trust
The main purpose of this trust shall be to witness to the love of Jesus Christ in action on the world map and to work with our committee’s counterpart in Zimbabwe to achieve the following objectives:
- to raise funds, receive grants and donations for the Trust
- to open a bank account for the funds of the Trust.
- to sponsor the education of HIV/AIDS orphans in Zimbabwe
- to provide funds for the purchase of school uniforms of the orphans
- to provide clothing for the orphans
- to provide funds for the purchase of land for the building of a centre for the Trust
- to support the provision of a secure store for the provisions for the orphans
- to provide funds for the provision of basic human needs for the orphans
- to obtain funds and pay for such goods and services as are necessary for carrying out the work of the Trust
- to co-operate with and support other trusts and charities with similar purposes
